A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agent arrested a northern Louisiana man for alleged deer hunting violations on Feb. 3 in Ouachita Parish.

The agent arrested Heath A. Page, 39, of Downsville, for hunting deer during a closed season and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Senior Agent Tyler Wheeler received a complaint about a subject entering a small parcel of woods around 5 p.m. inside of Revelation Park in West Monroe. Senior Agent Wheeler made contact with Page and found him in possession of a .22 rifle, light and thermal vision.

After further investigation, Senior Agent Wheeler also determined that Page was a convicted felon and not allowed to possess a firearm. Senior Agent Wheeler arrested Page and booked him into the Ouachita Parish Jail.

Hunting deer during a closed season brings a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail. Possessing a firearm by a convicted felon carries a $1,000 to $5,000 fine and five to 20 years in jail.
