A Dunblane[1] survivor has challenged Donald Trump[2] to meet her to discuss gun control during his UK visit.

Aimie Adam, 27, was shot twice by Thomas Hamilton when he rampaged through her primary school in 1996, killing 16 pupils and a teacher.

She despairs at the US president’s rabble-rousing speeches to the gun lobby while the horrifying death toll from mass shootings in his country keeps rising.

Trump was widely condemned after he criticised Britain and France’s gun[3] laws in a tub-thumping address to the National Rifle Association (NRA) in Dallas, Texas, on Friday.

About 11,000 Americans are shot dead every year, and there are 25 times more gun murders in the US than in most other developed countries.

Trump is expected to visit Scotland in July and Aimie – who was left with permanent injuries after bullets shattered her thigh and back – wants the opportunity to meet him and “twist his arm”.
