635515863519347725-Letter-to-the-editorLetter to the editor(Photo: File photo)After some research, I found that from March 10 there have been at least eleven pro-gun control laws letters and articles as opposed to only seven letters, etc., letters opposing more so-called "common sense" (my italics) gun laws in The Greenville News.Now some may say that more people want more gun laws passed. But my opinion is that there are more anti gun law folks that just are in the "silent majority" crowd that had better get louder.Included in these pro gun law letters are people denigrating NRA members as rich and powerful, when in reality the NRA is more likely made up of both rich people, doctors, lawyers as well as many poor people, and those in the middle. The NRA is all about gun safety and preserving the Second Amendment.Most of the anti-gun people are ignorant about guns, such as guest columnist Roger Lovette of Clemson who on March 10 called for a ban on AK-15 rifles. He may have meant the AR-15. The AR-15 is a semi automatic rifle that just looks like an assault rifle. In reality, the AR (ArmorLite 15) is not much different that the semi automatic rifles that have been in manufacture for over 75 years. NRA members are some of the most patriotic people in America.The real problem is the liberal teachers and parents failing to teach young people (including college age) about morals, patriotism, America exceptionalism, hard work and the dangers of socialism.There are more that 22,000 gun laws now that just need enforcing.
