Writing on the wall

If ever there were "writing on the wall," it is this announcement by Paul Ryan. Ryan just one of many politicians jumping off the Republican ship before they become forever associated with its downfall in the shadow of a president with little dignity or respect for others.
And the truth might just be that Trump may not really care if he gets re-elected or not. I would argue that he puts much more worth in his success as a businessman than in his lack of success as a politician.
I guess, as with all past presidents, their true ability to have made things better for our great country and its citizens will only come to the surface over time, years usually. But you can count on one thing: The rest of 2018 will be a political scramble for empty seats.

A lot of progress
Re: "Course OK'd in all but its name — 11th-hour amendment changes Mexican-American studies title," Thursday Metro & State story.
Incorporating Mexican-American studies is huge leap forward for Texas. Although the course will not go by the name "Mexican-American Studies," its very existence is a great show of how much progress has been made in this state regarding Hispanic relations.
Now young Texans have a real opportunity to learn about the full history of Hispanic relations in Texas,
