What's the only Amendment in the Bill of Rights that begins with the words "well regulated"? The Second Amendment. As Patriot's Day approaches images of Revolutionary War-era Americans carrying muskets comes to mind. Muskets that shot one musket ball at a time and were labor intensive to reload. If there are members of the NRA who feel they would be disloyal to the Founding Fathers by seeking more gun restrictions let's look at our Founders' words as stated in the Bill of Rights. The Second Amendment states: "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." Hone in on the words "a well regulated". The Founding Fathers were no fools and no strangers to firearms. When they addressed how their most advanced weapons (which were archaic by today's standards) would be used for the country's protection their very first words insist that the use of those weapons be "well regulated". When you think of Columbine, Sandy Hook, Parkland, Las Vegas. Orlando and all the other mass shootings, are "well regulated" the first words that come to your mind? Bryan Landoli Fitchburg
