Tuesday: Second Amendment advocates will analyze gun control bills pending in the Louisiana Legislature at the noon Ronald Reagan Newsmaker Luncheon, taking place at Café Américain on Jefferson Highway. Speakers include Sen. Neil Riser, Reps. Blake Miquez and Sherman Mack as well as Erin Luper, state director of the National Rifle Association. The cost of the meeting, which is open to the public, is $19.50.
Thursday and Friday: LSU’s new Center for Collaborative Knowledge will host an inaugural conference on sustainable cities from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. The two-day conference explores the challenges of modern city life and focuses on opportunities for growth and sustainability of cities. Keynote speakers will address a variety of issues like technology and urban design, the future of urban policing and race, and the urban environment. The conference is open to the public. April 18: The first of four informational sessions on BRAC’s Leadership Baton Rouge program takes place at 2:30 p.m. in room 102 in the Main Library at Goodwood. The meeting is designed to introduce the program to potential applicants and is free and open to the public.
