AUSTIN TX —-(Ammoland.com)- A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) participated in the 11th Annual Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) National Family Day event held on October 20, 2018, at the at the San Antonio Police Academy in San Antonio, TX. Members and facilitators of the AG & AG San Antonio chapters hosted a bay dedicated to women attendees where they could shoot a 9mm pistol and a .22 LR AR-15 style rifle.
“It was a joy to be able to assist our female veterans and family members on the range,” says AG & AG Executive Director Robyn Sandoval. “The women, some with significant physical challenges, were able to hit the steel targets and have fun with us! We were honored to give back to them for the contributions and sacrifices they have made in service to our country.”
Nearly 400 disabled veterans, spouses, children and volunteers were on site for the day. Rick Cicero, a disabled veteran and HAVA’s Learn to Shoot Again lead instructor, inspired the crowd with success stories of the HAVA program. He along with other disabled shooters and professional shooter Daniel Horner presented an exciting exhibition. Veterans enjoyed shooting a variety of firearms, food, children’s activities, and prizes from firearms industry brands.
This was the third year for AG & AG to support HAVA by hosting a ladies-only bay. AG & AG San Antonio TX Chapter Facilitator Sandra Kozero agrees, “We are extremely fortunate to be part of this volunteer event. Being able to give back to this group is an amazing opportunity for our organization.”
