COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (September 27, 2018)
Taylor Farmer picked up her second medal of the World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) World Cup in Chateauroux, France today when she won bronze in the R8 (Women’s 50m Three-Position Rifle SH1) event.
In her World Cup debut in R8, Farmer qualified for the Final in sixth place with a score of 1127. Once in the Final, Farmer (Castalia, Ohio) was in second place after the Kneeling stage but fell to fifth place in the subsequent Prone series. Throughout the following elimination shots in Standing, Farmer was able to claw her way into medal contention with a five-shot series of 52.3 – the highest-scoring series of any athlete in the Final. Farmer’s Finals score of 427.6 set a Junior World Record for the 20-year-old athlete.
“This was my second match in Three-Position Rifle after competing for the first time at the USA Shooting National Championships earlier this year,” said Farmer, who has only been shooting the Three-Position Rifle event since December. “Most of my training has been indoors and this week I’ve learned more about the wind with each shot! I took each shot as it came, and I made corrections as needed.” Athletes throughout the match have noted the challenging, windy conditions at the 50m range in Chateauroux. Natascha Hiltrop of Germany won the gold medal and Elke Seeliger - also of Germany - won the silver medal.

Marco DeLaRosa (San Antonio, Texas) competed today in the P1 (Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1) event where he finished in 16th place with a score of 552.
